Jim Reiland, a contributing author to Straw Bale Building Details: An Illustrated Guide for Design and Construction (a book by the California Straw Building Association) will be at Barnes & Noble in Medford to discuss how straw bale buildings differ from conventional “green” buildings, how they can be an important part of the effort to mitigate climate change, and how they are designed and built. There are over fifty permitted straw bale homes in Jackson County; learn more about this building system made from locally abundant, carbon sequestering, annually renewable residue from a grain harvest, and how it creates super insulated, beautiful buildings.
